[Loomyness]

at the Oregon Coast * Spring 2007
I’ve been journaling since I was about 12 years old.  Being 25 now, you can imagine how ridiculously hard it is to move with a huge bin full of notebooks, but I of course have to keep them all.  Just like we have to keep my husband’s gigantic steamer trunk full of writing and year books and memories…(again, my sincerest apologies to the friends who have had to carry those EVERY time we’ve moved).
In High School, I probably wrote more than ever… and many of my pages become these angst ridden brain flow of sentences running together and hardly ever stopping to take a breath and going on and on about all the things looming over my shoulders.  I never write run-on sentences anymore;).  But I started calling all those things “The things in my Cloud of Loomyness”.  And somehow, giving it a name made it better.  And then I started putting all those things in a list on the left side of the page, and then putting solutions on the right.  And that made it better, too.  Because instead of blobbing it all jumbled on a page, I had a visual representation of:  Problems —> Solutions.  In other words, Drowning vs. Floating.  Floating is always better.
And visual representations for people like me make our lives so… much… better.
So, for this Friday, here is one thing in my List of Loomyness:
Desperately itchy to travel —> Talk to Mike, choose a month, PLAN a TRIP
