Mid-Week Getaway

The España Family | Dad, Heather, Ben, Mike, Mom | OR Bach Fest 08

[Sorry for the grainyness in the photo]
That is my little brother, getting all growed up.  He’s turning 17 this year.
If I may gloat for a moment, Ben was one of the 80 High School students out of the country who was chosen to participate in the Oregon Bach Festival this year.  Pretty sweet.  It’s a super intensive 12 day event for these kids – they get to learn from and sing with professionals for something like 15 hours a day and perform several huge concerts at the Hult Center and elsewhere.
Mike and I went down to Eugene on Thursday to meet up with my parents and go to one of the concerts together [it was awesome, Bud!].  They’re staying with the sweetest lady.  All the hotels have been full since last fall because of the Olympic Trials being held in the area, so a lot of residents have opened up rooms in their homes for guests.  My dad did some fix-it work for their host, and in return she let my husband and I stay a night for free:).  Not a bad deal!  We had a blast – a long morning walk along the river, hazelnut french toast at Glenwood..one night getaways are amazingly refreshing.  We’ve got another one coming up in a week and a half or so… we’re going to be celebrating our two year wedding anniversary. Huzzah!

I hope you had a very happy fourth!
