MENU Monday?

one apple left | June 08

So I am noticing a little thing going around the blogging world called Menu Monday. I just read this incredible post by my friend’s sister, and I started laughing.  Not because it’s bad, but because the idea of actually being put-together enough to create a week’s worth of menus every single week is just hilarious to me.  She’s fabulous!

See the apple above?  That and some lemons were the only fruit we had in the house until my mom came over this morning with some stuff from her garden. The inside of our fridge? Well…  unless your craving sauerkraut and cottage cheese… you get my drift.

Amazingly, my husband was able to make a delicious dinner from stuff in the kitchen tonight, but I have not been quite so talented as of late.  And yes, I know – you have to go shopping in order for there to be food in your fridge.  But we had to decide between a big grocery shop and going away for a relaxing anniversary. We chose the latter.  The only downside is that you can’t EAT a night at Edgefield and an hour couple’s massage.

Still, why not give this menu thing a whirl?
Monday
Breakfast: grape nuts.  Oh wait, no – we’re out of milk
Lunch: sandwich.  Oops, just kidding – we finished the bread yesterday
Dinner: Uh, sauerkraut?

Repeat Menu Tuesday through Friday.  Give up a couple of times and go to Jem100. Remember that you have some Tasty Bites [organic microwavable indian food in a bag] leftover from Burning Man last year.  Nibble on some frozen strawberries now that the fresh ones are gone, and squirm with displeasure because they’re just not the same.

While I’m at it, repeat through July 15th;).  Pay day!

Heather - Hey, thanks Katie! :)

Xenia Kathryn - Making a meal out of what you have already is quite an amazing skill. I’ve been trying to be more resourceful with what I already have.

Oh, and come over and join us for lunch or dinner any time! I can’t promise pesto quinoa couscous with fermented pineapple chicken, but you know… whatev. ;)
