Every year I make a Mondo Beyondo list [it's a fresh take on New Year's Resolutions], and in 2008 I added something to it that Ali Edwards suggested. She said to try choosing 2 Words that would be the theme for the New Year. At the beginning of 2008, I chose these two words…
Wellness
Daring
Wellness because I was completely determined to get help with my back/neck/shoulder/foot problems. Determined to go through physical therapy and pilates and put my bones back in place and develop a healthy habit of getting the gym to help heal my body.
Daring because I knew I wanted to be a 100% self-employed photographer. I knew I wanted España Photography to not just be a side job any longer. And I knew that would take daring. Daring to leave my other job, daring to learn the skills I needed that I didn’t have yet, daring to give up the regular [if part-time] paycheck, daring to discover if I could work from home without going nuts, daring to be willing to dive in head first even though there is always a possibility of failing. Daring all around.
I honestly feel like WELLNESS and DARING were the themes playing through the year, and that choosing those words and owning them made them real. I am thankful to all of you who have listened to me and joined me in this rollercoaster of an endeavor. I have felt tremendously supported by your comments here, the little thank-you notes and letters you have sent to me, and the conversations we’ve had in person. I’m sorry if this sounds like a cheesy acceptance speech or something, but it’s all true! I am SO excited for this New Year.
In the next couple of days, I am going to be choosing my new words, or perhaps just one word, for 2009. I would love it if you joined me! List your word/s in the comments below. I will share mine with you as soon as I find them
.

Bryan - Heather, I really like the idea of choosing one or two words to be themes for the year. Thanks for the inspiration, hope all is well for you and Mike!
