As promised, here are my favorite’s from the session.
Look at that laugh…mama was tickling her with my fuzzy scarf.
But this, this one is my top favorite of the day. It’s all about the eyes
. And this is such a classic expression for her…just taking it all in.

The backdrop is actually a tablecloth I picked up at Goodwill a few weeks back. It does glorious things for skin tones!
I mainly shoot on location, and I don’t have a permanent studio established [yet], but these photos were all taken in my dining room. I have sliding doors that face north, so these photos are lit partly by natural northlight and partly by my Alien Bees 800 strobe with a brolly box to the left of Doozy. Approx. f/8 at 1/125th of a second, ISO 100. The key to keeping the tones nice and warm was changing the White Balance to cloudy.
Except for the last shot [which I took special care with because it's my favorite] these are basically out-of camera. Just a little contrast boost and sharpen.
