Sorry if it’s been a little quieter than usual around here, and thanks to all of you who know what’s been going on and have been SO sweet and supportive! We appreciate it tremendously.
For those of you who don’t know, my husband’s grandma has just passed away after a very long and painful couple of weeks. He made two trips down south to say his good-bye’s and it’s been emotionally exhausting. Losing people is hard, but it seems that all the family dramas and messes there are to clean up afterward are worse. One on top of the other is very hard to deal with.
Grandma Velda, along with her husband Grandpa Bob, raised Mike from the time he was very young. I didn’t get to meet Bob, but I’m so glad I had the chance to meet Velda. What a sweetie! Mike assures me that she sweetened with age
. ”Trust me!,” he says, “She ruled with a firm hand when I was little!” Isn’t that always the way it goes? I know he is so thankful to have had her in his life, for himself and his brother Shane. She will be missed very much.
So it’s been a hard couple of weeks, most especially for Mike and his family as they’ve been dealing with all the emotions and logistics that come with loss. And then, this morning, our doorbell range. Mike’s wonderful group of co-workers had this beautiful hydrangea plant delivered to us with a sweet little card… friends, if you’re reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU TOTALLY MADE OUR DAY.
