I don’t know why. There’s just nothing like a clean desktop.
If I could do so without being REALLY ridiculous, I’d probably get rid of my one row of files off to the right there. But they happen to be really practical, so I leave them.
Don’t get me wrong, I put stuff on the desktop ALL the time. It gets peppered with files on and off throughout my workday, but that’s where my handy dandy secret weapon comes into play. I’m sure you’ve heard of it before, but this ONE LITTLE THING felt like a complete revelation when I started using it, and it banished all my desktop clutter woes to the trash bin. Shall I share my secret?
Meet Mr. To File.
I LOVE him. Whenever the desktop starts getting icky again, I just whoosh everything into the TO FILE folder and deal with it later. Sometimes it gets a little full…mostly of images I have blogged. So I took a couple minutes this morning to empty it and put everything where it goes (insert whooshing sound effects).
Ah…. happiness for the desktop dork.

(Wanna know a secret? One day I want to get a mini web cam to attach to the back of my computer, for the purpose of trying to have streaming video on my desktop of what's BEHIND my desktop. Like I'm looking through a window to the dusty, neglected, wire-strewn area at the back of my desk. Now if that's not an indicator of a desktop dork, I don't know what is.)
