In a word? JOY.
[You can see Scott+Celeste's Engagement Sneak Peek HERE]
I had been looking forward to Scott + Celeste’s August 8th wedding for quite a while, and they did not disappoint! The whole day suited them so well — laid-back and heart-felt and SOOO much fun to photograph!
I loved Celeste’s single blossom in her hair instead of a traditional veil (although THOSE are fun too!). Simple and lovely.

This is definitely one of my favorite shots of the day. Celeste on her way for her First Look with Scott. They understood that it makes the day go so much smoother when we can do most or all of the photos before the ceremony, so we did their First Look with plenty of time to play afterward.

I was so excited about all the clover fields in this area. The blooms are mostly gone, which turned out to be a blessing. . . no bees!

In spite of no bees, the terrain was a bit…um, rough. But they’re troopers!

They had one of the most incredible and ingenious florists I have met to date, and he is an old family friend! Big thanks to Gary McLaughlin who came in from out of town to do their flowers, just as he did for Celeste’s parents all those years ago
. They were stunning!

A little walk away there is this awesome old barn, and we went there to play for a bit.

My second photographer Ryan and I loved the barn so much we asked the whole gang to come down there for us! They rocked it.
Celeste’s mom Linda, in addition to being an incredible gardener, also has a collection of pitchforks in her garage
. She had just the right one to do a little American Gothic shot that we talked about when they first booked me.

Scott + Celeste were married by their close friend Lakin, who got ordained just for the occasion. Such a sweet ceremony. When they read quotes from The Velveteen Rabbit and a Mr.Rogers song I was totally losing it behind my camera. I’m not kidding.

This image is a bit blurry and I don’t even mind it because they’re so joyous!

More amazing work by Gary!

Instead of cake, they did pie. No offense to cake-lovers, but pie RULES.
Stellar catering provided by the Russel St. BBQ in Portland. YUM.

Some details and candids from the reception. . .

Celeste and Lakin, breakin’ down ROBO STYLE. This just cracks me up.

Okay, a HUGE thank-you to my fabulous second photographer Ryan! He ran around with my off-camera flash while I was shooting so we could get these dance photos. Couldn’t have done it without him!

Can you guess what song was playing? That’s right. Thank-you, Sir Mixalot, for making wedding receptions just that much fun.

Okay, the grandparents at this reception rock my world. Look at them boogie! How cute are they?!

Scott + Celeste: It’s been a seriously fabulous pleasure. Celeste, whatever is the opposite of Bridezilla, you are it. You were a dream bride
. Scott, I had no idea how talented you were until the reception. I want a copy of that song. I was laughing so hard I kept shaking my camera
. MANY years of happiness to the both of you! Talk to you soon.
