And when I leave. . .

My husband married me knowing that I would probably always have the itch to travel.  Our second ever conversation was filled with my stories about Africa and Ireland and Guatemala, and his trip abroad to Asia.

Growing up, I really thought I would be single until at least 35, and somehow manage to just travel all over the world as a mixed-media artist.  I would eventually meet and marry a hunk of a drummer with dreadlocks and chocolate brown skin.

Instead, I met my freckled redheaded partner at 20, was married at 23, and am traveling as a wedding photographer.  And you know what?  It’s perfectly imperfect.  Funny how these things have a way of working themselves out.

Knowing how much I need travel, to experience different light and different cultures, we put this line in our wedding vows. . .

“And when I leave, I will come back.”

It’s my favorite line.

The 2010 wedding season is over.  There are still hours and hours of work to be done, but they will all be done inside the orange door cottage.  It has been an incredible year, and I’m so thankful for all the traveling I have been able to do so far, and all the amazing people I met this year.  We’re now entering the Cozy Time.  There will be blogging and family, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and excited smiles thinking about and planning for the 2011 wedding season.

Lots more to come!

With Joy,

Heather España
